Taps Bugler

G_Bentley_212.jpg

I was introduced to an organization called Taps for Veterans, in 2018.  I played Taps to mark the 100th Anniversary of the Armistice of WWI on the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month, 2018.  I chose the grave of Columbus native and WW1 flying ace Eddie Rickenbacker for this commemoration.  Twice I have played cascading Taps with other buglers as a part of the opening ceremonies of the Lincoln Fellowship of Pennsylvania's 100 Nights of Taps in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania and twice I have been the evening's bugler at the Soldier's Monument in Gettysburg National Cemetery, near where President Abraham Lincoln gave his Gettysburg Address.  In 2021 I played a harmonized version of Taps at Arlington National Cemetery as a part of a trumpet choir commemorating the 100th anniversary of the first Taps bugler at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.  I continue to sound Taps as a part of Memorial Day events each year and recently played Taps at the funeral of a World War 2 veteran.
